Persona 5 Royal: Strength Confidant Guide (2024)

The Velvet Room is a common element in every Persona game, and there are always other denizens besides Igor in the room. In Persona 5 Royal, the inhabitants are Caroline and Justine, the Twin Wardens and Strength confidants.

Much like Margaret in Persona 4, the Twin Wardens challenge Joker to create specific Personas with specific skills, and doing so will improve the Strength confidant rank in Persona 5 Royal. Doing so is sometimes hard and sometimes easy, so this guide will explore a few of the ways players can complete the list.

General Information

Persona 5 Royal: Strength Confidant Guide (1)

In the Tarot deck, the Strength Arcana depicts a woman and the lion she apparently tamed, the two together representing both physical and spiritual strength. The card's interpretations include courage, confidence, and zeal, while the reverse meanings include pettiness and abuse of power.

The earliest the Strength confidant can begin is 5/18, which is when Justine will ask to speak with Joker. After that, there are no limitations on when players can advance their rank: so long as Joker can visit the Velvet Room, he can speak to Justine, ask her about penal labor, and rank up if he has the right Persona with the right skill in his stock. There are no relationship points, so don't bother stocking a Strength Persona for these events.

Unlike other confidants, ranking up Strength doesn't take any time, and so players can reach new ranks in the middle of a Mementos or Palace run and during a New Game Plus players can go from rank 1 to 10 on the first day. Just make sure that the requested Personas have the right skills in the registry. Players can lock a registered Persona to avoid any accidents.

The List

Persona 5 Royal: Strength Confidant Guide (2)

First, players should know that accessories that give Joker a skill don't count. A skill must be on the individual Persona's list for the Twins to count it. On the other hand, skills learned from Skill Cards do count. This means that players can use electric chair executions and Strength hangouts (more on that below) to get the needed cards and apply them to the Personas in question instead of worrying about fusions.

1: Jack Frost with Mabufu, Level 11 Magician

Jack Frost gets Mabufu with a few levels, so just fuse Jack Frost using any Personas and Joker's relationship with Morgana should get Jack Frost the needed skill.

For starting the Strength confidant, the wardens will unlock Group Guillotine. This allows Joker to fuse special Personas that require three or four Personas instead of two.

2: Ame-no-Uzume with Frei, Level 13 Lovers

Both Makami and Shiisaa start with Frei. However, players can't fuse Temperance or Strength Personas to create a Lovers Persona, so they'll have to carry the skill over to a second Persona and fuse that into Ame-no-Uzume. One possibility is:

  • Makami and Mandrake to create Inugami
  • Inugami and Angel to create Ame-no-Uzume

3: Flauros with Tarukaja, Level 19 Devil

Flauros is a three-part fusion of Berith, Eligor, and Orobas. Eligor starts with Tarukaja, so keep this request in mind when fusing.

The rank 3 reward is Lockdown. A Persona in Lockdown can't be used in combat and doesn't gain experience, but it can learn new passive skills after several days and players can use incense to boost its stats. However, a Persona left in Lockdown for over 10 days will disappear, not including days when the Velvet Room is unavailable.

4: Phoenix with Counter, Level 21 Faith

Oni and Yaksini are good choices since they both have Counter and can fuse directly to make a Faith Persona. Combine Oni with an Empress or Yaksini with either a Strength or Temperance Persona.

5: Setana with Rakukaja, Level 25 Emperor

Lamia and Apsaras will produce the right Persona with the right skill.

Rank 5 gives Joker Special Treatment. From this point on, Joker can fuse a Persona whose level is higher than his. However, the cost of doing so is extremely high, and it gets higher when there's a big difference between Joker and the Persona's level.

6: Neko Shogun with Dekaja, Level 30 Star

Neko Shogun is another special fusion, this time between Kodama, Sudama, and Anzu. Anzu learns Dekaja at level 28, so either fuse Anzu or use it in combat long enough to reach the right level.

7: Lachesis with Tetraja, Level 35 Fortune

Principality is a Justice Persona with Tetraja, but there's no way to fuse Justice into a Fortune Persona directly. Instead, try this combination:

  • Principality and Mitra to create Thoth
  • Thoth and Anzu to create Lachesis

8: Hecatoncheires with Masukunda, Level 42 Hanged Man

Thoth starts with Masukunda, but once again there's no way to fuse it directly to create Hecatoncheires. Here's a way around:

  • Thoth and Kelpie to create Belphegor
  • Belphegor and Isis to create Hecatoncheires

At rank 8, the Twins unlock Guillotine Booster. This unlocks fusions that need five or more Personas.

9: Bugs with Samarecarm, Level 49 Fool

First, players must get the ability to fuse Bugs by finishing the request "The Lovesick Cyberstalking Girl." Bugs is a special fusion, and one required Persona is Hariti, who gets Samarecarm at level 41.

10: Seth with High Counter, Level 51 Tower

Dakini learns High Counter at level 52, but Seth is another special fusion and Dakini isn't on its list. Instead, try this:

  • Dakini and Pazuzu to create Horus
  • Horus, Isis, Thoth, and Anubis to create Seth

Alternately, the reward for the request "The Killer Who Cleans Up Trash" is a High Counter Skill Card.

For completing the Strength confidant, Joker gets the VIP Treatment. This lowers the Special Treatment markup, plus it unlocks Zaou-Gongen, the ultimate Strength Persona.

Hangouts

Persona 5 Royal: Strength Confidant Guide (3)

Starting on 6/6, Caroline and Justine will ask Joker to bring them to special locations in the real world. Most of these hangouts take place at night, and at the end of them the Twins will give Joker one or more Skill Cards. These include every skill they ask for to rank up the Strength confidant, making this a great way to avoid the headache that comes from trying to figure out fusions and levels.

However, these hangouts don't unlock all at once, and Joker has to be aware of a location or have visited a venue before he can show it to the Twins. They must all be completed in order, though some of them are only available during certain months and several won't take place if it's raining. If a location times out, players should still be able to continue with the remaining hangouts.

In the following list, the Skill Cards needed for ranks are in bold.
